The June meeting was a garden visit with thirty four keen gardeners including Barmouth garden club and friends joining the Dyffryn and Talybont club for a trip to the National Trust gardens at Bodnant on 10th June.
After a quick stop in Betws y Coed the coach party continued to Bodnant. In 1949, these were the second gardens to be donated to the Trust although the 80 acre gardens precede this.
The weather was perfect to explore the various terraces, lawns, parkland, waterfall and dell. The delayed spring ensured that there were glorious displays of colour from the varied plants and shrubs, especially the azaleas and rhododendrons and the magnificent laburnum arch.
With a garden centre on site many of the coach party were tempted to purchase plants.
On our return chairman Tony Bowers thanked Mary Howell for arranging such a successful trip and to the driver of Emma’s coaches for transporting us safely.
Next meeting 8th July “Honey bees in your garden” with Paul and Pauline Aslin of Arthog. Competition a bloom to attract bees. New members and visitors most welcome.
Summer show on 14th August. Schedules are now available.
