Due to the unavailability of the church hall, chairman Tony Bowers welcomed us to Cors Y Gedol.
The spring show will be held on 22nd March at Dyffryn village hall, followed by the AGM at Royal St David’s on 14th April. There will be vacant committee positions, and volunteers or recommendations would be appreciated.
Guy Lloyd provided his welcomed monthly tips, from time to sow geranium seeds to planting garlic and broad beans in pots.
We were pleased to welcome fellow member Mary Howell as our speaker. Mary has written a novel inspired by her six weeks walking the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route in north- west Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of St James are buried in the cathedral.
We were shown photographs of plants seen on her walk, including those grown by clerics for the pilgrim’s medicinal use. Examples such as Lavender for soothing properties and Gentian for bites.
The vote of thanks was given by Tony who announced the winner of the monthly competition as Barbara Roberts.
Next meeting at Cors Y Gedol on 10th March, with Eurwyn Roberts of Felin Nurseries, Dolwyddelan on Chrysanthemums and Dahlias. Competition a sample of your home made compost. A warm welcome to all.
