On Monday 9th June, members, guests and many visitors were welcomed by our chairman to a very special occasion in our 2014 calendar.
John Massey, from Ashwood Nurseries, our speaker for the evening, was introduced by Guy Lloyd our President.
We were then entertained, informed and amused by John who talked about summer to autumn in his own garden, which he has created during the past 15 years.
The transition from the warm, sunny days of summer into the morning mists and restfulness of the garden in autumn was beautifully illustrated by stunning slides. His love of plants and expertise in blending flowers and foliage makes this garden so special.
Ashwood Nurseries has won Gold Medals at RHS shows for their salvias, cyclamen, hydrangeas and hellebores.
This was a most enjoyable evening in the company of an inspirational speaker who reminded us that ‘nature is the greatest gardener of all ‘
Our next meeting will be on July 14th when Mrs Dutton will lead a flower arranging workshop.
Jenny Martin will open her garden for members on 16th June at 2pm. The £3.50 donation will go to the NGS.
