Gardening Club AGM- 8th April 2013

The club held it’s AGM on 8th April at Royal St David’s Golf Club.

We were welcomed by chairman Tony Bowers before proceeding with the agenda.

Minutes of the 2012 AGM and treasurer’s report were passed followed by a report on the recent show. Unfortunately exhibit numbers were down in contrast to the summer show where numbers had increased. Summer show coordinator Anita Gatehouse stated that more entries would be appreciated in the children, produce and wine and flower arranging sections.

The chairman reported that despite good attendances at monthly meetings and new members joining, membership had fallen by seven during the year. The coming year had a varied programme with membership fees at £3.50 now due to the treasurer.

Karen Hall has kindly set up a web site for the club and this can be viewed on www.dyffrynandtalybontgardenclub.wordpress.com

The committee were all thanked individually for their invaluable help and were all reappointed with Sue Hopwood also voted on to the team.

The chairman was delighted to announce that the club now had a President, fellow member Guy Lloyd.

Mr Lloyd stated he was honoured to accept the position, especially as his aunt Miss M Lloyd had been President from 1984-2002 and that it was twenty years to the day that he had joined the club, and hoped to continue contributing for many years.

Before retiring for a meal the winner of the monthly competitions was announced. Congratulations to Emlyn Owens.

Next meeting 13th May when we have one of the programme highlights. Mrs Eleanor Griffiths of Warrington a NAFAS demonstrator will give a flower arranging demonstration. Members and non-members welcome at 7pm at Dyffryn church hall. Refreshments provided. We look forward to seeing you.
